Job Description
Job Description • The fundamental job purpose is to support and manage the Finance Operations of Bahrain. • It entails knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Group Accounting Policies, Management Accounting Policies, RIWAC Policies, Local Regulations and Central Bank Guidelines. • It requires compliance and implementation of Group standards and policies as also local regulatory policies impacting Finance. • It covers preparing of professional / timely Management, Financial and Regulatory reporting. It involves ensuring the accuracy and correct presentation of the numbers through systematic processes, proper and in-depth analysis of variances and by providing informative commentaries. • It involves preparation and control over the General Ledger specific to Finance to avoid/minimise Finance operational risk. It also involves appropriate high-level scrutiny of reconciliation submitted by other departments. • It comprises preparation and timely delivery of professional country budgets and forecasts. • It involves effective financial support to the key finance customers – Group Finance, Business Finance, FSSC, Local Regulators, Central Bank Inspectors and Statutory Auditors. • In summary, the main job purpose is to be a value-added, professional and cost effective finance service provider to all interested parties, within and outside the Bank.
Desired Skills & Experience
Key Roles & Responsibilities 1. Financial and Management Reporting • Ensure accurate and timely Financial Reporting to Group Finance, Management Reporting to Local Management / Group, Statutory Reporting to Local Regulators, Annual Financials to KPMG / Local Regulators and ALCO packs to Group Market Risk / Local Management. • Ensure compliance and implementation of Group accounting policies and standards, including IFRS. • Ensure compliance to Group management accounting policies, FTP policies and RIWAC policies. • Ensure the preparation of Daily balance sheet and the circulation of the same to the concerned and respond to the queries thereof. Also ensure daily monitoring of various Group/Regulatory ratios • Coordinate with business finance to get quality analysis of results and financials: income, cost, debt charge, yields and balance sheet. • Assist in the preparation of the budget / forecast process for SSC and CRES with a view to preparation of value added and professional budgets / forecasts including commentaries / analysis thereto. • Coordinate with business finance to get accurate monthly forecast by value center for onward submission to Group Finance. • Manage the delivery of adhoc information requests and any other aspects of information delivery. • Guide and lead the FSSC team in Chennai. • Drive the improvement of processes with regard to the above with a view to enhancing cost effectiveness, efficiency, accuracy and integrity of the numbers reported and analyzed.
2. Finance operational risk, controls and governance • Ensure completeness, quality and evidence of Finance reconciliations and escalation procedures. • Maintain the robustness and integrity of the General Ledger with complete balance sheet substantiation, controls over sundry, suspense, accrual and project accounts. • Ensure that effective control tools like KRIs, KCS and KCSA are in place. • Comply with the Money Laundering Prevention Procedures and the Code of Conduct of the Bank. Be alert at all times to unusual or possibly suspicious customer activity, and must report promptly any such activity to the Country MLPO. • As a RP for Reporting under ORMAF(Operational Risk Management and Assurance Framework): • Ensure adherence to ORMAF in identifying, assessing, controlling, monitoring and reporting of risk. • Ensure KCSA checks are carried out adequately and in timely manner.
3 Finance System Support • Identify gaps/mismatch in PSF/PSFT/FINIS impacting group/regulatory reporting and FTP with a view to resolve the same efficiently with the FSM/GTO/IS, Dubai team. • Conduct user tests of system enhancements and changes and co-ordinate with IT/TP owners/IS, Dubai. • Maintain strong integrity of the data in the GL by ensuring accurate mapping / interfaces of the TP systems, clearance of edit suspense. Qualifications & Skills - A qualified chartered accountant or equivalent with at least 5 years experience - Solid experience and background in Finance. - Good communication skills both written and oral and the ability to work independently without close supervision. - Good knowledge of Computer applications and functionalities. - Good team-worker. - Ability to work under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines
